Now shipping cashew seeds

Cashew seeds from a real South Florida backyard.

Cashews are native to Northeast Brazil — that's where I'm from, Ceará, and I'm proud of it. Today three thriving trees in my South Florida yard give me more seeds than I can plant. These are those seeds: grown here, proven here, sent to you.

Where it comes from

A South Florida backyard, rooted in Ceará.

No wholesaler, no warehouse. Here’s the honest path from a seed I carried out of Brazil to the ones I’m sending you.

01
Ceará, Brazil

Where it starts

I grew up in Ceará, in Brazil's northeast — cashew country. The cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale) is native to that dry, sun-baked biome, feeding whole communities from a single tree.

02
The first try

A seed from home

I brought seeds from Ceará and planted one here in South Florida. It germinated fast and pushed up a little seedling — proof the seeds were good — but that first young tree didn't make it through.

03
Three trees

Rooted for good

So I bought three cashew trees from a local South Florida nursery — already acclimated to this climate. Even better, each one produces a different type of cashew. They took to my yard and thrived: hot summers, sandy soil, exactly what they want.

04
Today

More than I can plant

Those three trees now fully fruit and produce more seeds than I could ever plant myself. I harvest them by hand, dry them properly, and ship them — grown right here, proven to grow here.

“Cashew is my favorite fruit — the one I grew up eating in Northeast Brazil. I love it so much I can eat a whole bunch in one sitting. I always dreamed of having my own cashew tree in my backyard here in South Florida, and I never thought it would be possible. But it came true.”

That taught me a lesson I carry for life: you have to try — otherwise you’ll never know if your dream can come true. These seeds are my way of helping you start yours.

From seed to seedling

How to grow your cashew.

These seeds germinate readily — I learned that firsthand. A few simple things give you the best shot at a strong start.

Step 1

Soak first

Soak the seed in water for 24–48 hours before planting. Floaters are usually duds — the sinkers are your best bets.

Step 2

Warm & bright

Cashews love heat. Keep the soil around 80–90°F in a sunny spot. A warm windowsill or outdoors in summer works well.

Step 3

Well-draining soil

Plant about an inch deep in sandy, well-draining mix. They hate soggy roots — water when the top dries out, not before.

Step 4

Be patient

Germination typically takes 1–3 weeks. Once sprouted, protect the young seedling from cold — that's the vulnerable stage.

Every order ships with a printed version of these notes. Questions along the way? Email me — I’m happy to help you get it going.

Good questions

Before you plant.

Straight from three cashew trees growing in my own South Florida yard. I harvest them by hand as the fruit ripens, dry them properly, and pack them myself — no wholesaler in between.

Cashews are tropical and frost-sensitive — happiest in USDA zones 10–11 (like South Florida). In cooler climates you can still grow one in a large pot and bring it indoors for winter. They love heat, sun, and well-draining soil.

Very. Because they come from this season's harvest off my own trees, they haven't sat in a warehouse. Fresh seed germinates far more reliably than old stock.
